I still haven’t grasped that it’s the last day of 2015. The holidays went by way too quickly, even though I tried my hardest to stop, breathe, and take it in. Perhaps it’s because 2015 was truly an incredible year in weddings? I look back on how my season began and how it ended and everything in between and it was just…amazing. I can’t come up with a better word to describe it! Fulfilling to say the least! Being a wedding photographer definitely fills my life with joy, and I couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunities I’ve been given this year.
I want to thank some special people before I show you some of my favorite images of the year.
There’s one person that I need to thank above all else, and that’s my incredible husband. It’s not easy being married to a wedding photographer! Herrick, I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to thank you enough. You’ve seen me strapped to my desk for countless hours, you’ve eaten way too many meals out because I didn’t feel like cooking or didn’t have the time, and you’ve seen me cry over the pressure I put on myself. You’ve been there when I’ve gotten great news, you’ve lent your eyes when mine were too strained after hours of late-night editing, and you’ve been patient. And you’ve lifted me up higher than I could have ever imagined. You really are the best thing that could have ever happened to me, and we both know that goes beyond this small, yet extremely large part of my life. It’s everything you do as a father, a husband, a son, and a friend. You are why I love marriage and believe in it so much. I love you…so very much.
To my couples. The first thing that comes to mind is to thank you for letting me in on your lives. It’s an honor to witness you begin your lives together. Marriage is something I respect with every last ounce of my soul…something I believe in. From the companionship, to the adventures, to every chance we’re given to forgive each other, to the blessings we’re given and the losses we overcome together. Watching your lives begin from the “Yes!” to the “I do” and even beyond, I feel a tremendous sense of privilege to spend these moments with you, capturing them for you to share for decades to come. I’m honored to spend the time with you and your families and closest friends, because those are the people who love you most in life. To witness these bonds, the intimate, emotional moments in your lives…I cried after every. single. wedding. That’s no exaggeration. I cry behind the camera, I cry in my car, and I cry to my husband. All grateful, joyful tears. I am wishing you all the very best that life has to offer, and I pray that 2016 brings you to your first anniversaries feeling all the love you felt on your day this year. Thank you so much for the opportunity to be your wedding photographer. You all mean the world to me! Happy New Year, y’all. I love you guys!
It truly has been one incredible, unforgettable year, and I look forward to every single moment spent capturing the joy and love surrounding every one of you.
Happy New Year!!! Cheers to 2016!
